The Birth of Summer, or Beltane as it was called in Pagan Europe, is about UNION. To be more specific, it was about SEX, and the weaving together of the Masculine and Feminine energies to create life to take care of the family and tribe. But, as society has progressed, and overpopulation has become a reality—there is no longer a need for creating new people to work the fields. Those energetic ties to the land are still very real however, and it is our jobs as Neo-Shamanic Practitioners to honor them. You will be doing this by acknowledging the dual aspects of yourself and making vows to both. The forces at this time of year are unique because it is the only Direction/Holy Day that embodies both the Masculine and Feminine. It is also the phase where you move from the creative and nurturing aspects of the Divine Feminine towards the dynamic and liberating aspects of the Divine Masculine. This is the energetic mid-point of the whole year and it is when the days begin to get longer in preparation for the longest day of the year at Summer Solstice.
What You Will Be Doing on this Holy Day:
It is your wedding day! Well, the wedding day to yourself that is...As you might have already guessed, you will be taking vows. This set of rituals is designed for unification of self and the exploration of pleasure. The first half will include a journey to meet the Divine Lovers, write vows to both sides of yourself and perform a marriage ceremony. The second part is dedicated to the exploration of pleasure through trance dance work. And you will close out your work with the SOUTH-EAST Stone Activation.
